Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
